David Wells joined the Christian Job Corps (CJC) of Kendall County as Christian Men's Job Corps (CMJC) Director on July 17.  David is not new to CMJC. Lynn Heckler, CJC's executive director says, "He's been the core leader for the Jobs for Life® component in the last five program sessions, sharing his expertise as a seasoned Human Resources (HR) professional to help the students. His 25 years of experience in recruiting, HR, job coaching, and operations management and his degree in Business Administration are  assets to the professional development of our students and CJC's ability to equip adults for life and vocation."

David's journey to becoming the CMJC Program Director is worth telling. After relocating to the area, he thought the new job market would be easy given his background in hiring. The reality proved to be quite the opposite. He started working with a job coach, turned down a couple of ill-fit job opportunities and even considered joining CJC as a student. Instead, he offered up his experience as a hiring manager and became more involved in the coaching side of the job-world where he could deliver value. While an instructor at CJC, he attended the Walk to Emmaus. It was there that he found a path that would strengthen his faith and allow him to fully share his talents, leading him to apply and be hired as the new CJC Men's Program Director. There is more to this story, as David refers to an animated kid's movie, but you will have to ask him for those details directly.

David says, "I have seen firsthand how CMJC has helped people and not just the men who enroll.  When the instructors get together we always discuss how much we get out of the program, and I do not think our students realize what we learn from them. The fellowship is amazing. So many of our success stories come from the connections made during the program; we all grow."

Born and raised in Oklahoma, David quickly followed his heart to Texas, where he married his wife, a native Texan, 25 year ago.  The Wells moved to the Boerne area four years ago with plans to live out the rest of their lives here. Long-time Methodists, they attend University United Methodist Church. He has a passion for cars and is also a supporter of Racers for Christ.

Heckler further explains that CJC is looking to David to guide the program forward, create a clear pipeline of potential students, shape the curriculum, and inspire our students and instructors to operate at full potential.  She feels this is an exciting time for the men's program and hopes the community will welcome David to his new position.
